The tune and part of this chorus was written by Kat Del Rio. I adopted it and re-wrote it after visiting a shelter for families displaced by the Russian River flooding Guerneville, California. It reminds me of just how special it is to live another day. 
This song was written in August of 2017, after Heather Heyer was killed by a driver who blasted his car into a crowd of people peacefully protesting an alt-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. I went to a half-hour silent vigil in my town, and I felt that instead of "thoughts and prayers", we need to speak out!

​This impeachment song parody was written February 1st, 2020, the day after the U.S. Senate voted down numerous measures to call relevant witnesses in the impeachment "trial".  This is an impeachment song parody of Stan Rogers' "Northwest Passage".  Use freely. I wrote this song to pull myself out of a depressing hole. Every time I sing it, it pulls me up towards a brighter vision of a better world. I feel that songs generate their own energy, and this one calls in a sustainable, positive future.
